Melia Tortuga Beach - All Inclusive

An amazing experience! My friends and I had an unforgettable stay at this resort, where everything was simply perfect. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was excellent, and the staff was always kind and attentive. A special thanks to Edmir, who was incredibly dedicated and welcoming. Without a doubt, this is a place we would love to return to!

We spent a week in Tortugo in February 2025 as a family of 5 (3 boys 11, 14 and 16) After reading some reviews I was a bit worried about what we were in for but I needn’t have worried as we had a wonderful time :) Accommodation We stayed in a 3 bedroom 3 bathroom villa ideally situated in the middle of the resort with a sea view from our first floor terrace. It was extremely spacious and very clean. We had cleaning staff come in several times in the week to clean and change towels. All in all perfect for us. Pools There are two pool areas as well as a kids pool. We preferred the quiet pool which was very relaxing, and didn’t have too much trouble getting beds. Pools were a little cold but refreshing and we still went in and had fun. The other pool was a bit bigger and busier with a bar, music and a few activities going on. Beach The hotel is situated on a beautiful wide sandy beach and there were always sunbeds available here. There is a more sheltered area you can swim in but the waves were so big a lot of the time we were there it was unsafe to go in at all. It made for amazing views though. Food On our first day we went to the bar at 11am to book the al a carte restaurants. We got in all four of them no problem and enjoyed them all particularly the Italian which had one of the best lasagna I have had. The buffet was varied and plentiful. We ate breakfast here every day which was lovely and varied including cooked breakfasts, toast, croissants cereals and fresh omelettes cooked to order. We ate lunch at the cabana beach restaurant which was delicious and we could have three courses each day if we wanted as all inclusive guests. The cabana beach bar did lovely alcoholic and non alcoholic cocktails, prosecco and beers and it was a perfect spot to enjoy the sunset. Santa Maria is only a 5 minute drive in a taxi and there are a range of lovely restaurants there too if you want a change we loved cafe art in particular , gorgeous pizzas and very reasonable. Highly recommend the half day trip on the e bikes too. All in all a wonderful holiday and we would definitely return

We have just returned from a lovely holiday at the Tortuga, having been initially concerned by some reviews. It may not be new and perfect in everyway but the apartments are spacious, the staff very friendly and accommodating and when you take into account the high cost of living on the island we felt the all inclusive package was great value. The buffet was varied and the booking of the other restaurants onsite was never a problem for us and you can eat in any of the restaurants without booking at lunchtime. We highly recommend the postcards trip with Tui. It gives you a fab feel for the island and alot of interesting facts that help you to appreciate what the island has to offer

Avoid this hotel like the plague, or you may end up catching it. My wife & I were violently ill for 12 hours & spent a day on an IV drip after eating in La Cabana restaurant. The hotel offered zero help and denied any responsibility, as did the Tui rep, who was cranky just rude and aggressive. Absolutely shameful treatment & we’re still waiting for a copy of our medical invoice so we can make an insurance claim. And we are by no means the only people to experience this during our stay. The worst holiday experience in 50 years of international travel.

We had a nice vacation in a villa on Tortuga Beach Resort. The villa is spacious but old and worn. The cleaning is okay but sometimes they clean so late in the afternoon that they will come when you are getting ready to go out to dinner. The ‘no stress’ motto they use in Cape Verde is very used. Sometimes things get done and sometimes not. We asked for coffee to be refilled in the villa. When after the third time we asked and nothing happened we gave up. The all inclusive buffet is okay. Nothing out of the ordinary and pretty much the same every day. Do yourself a favour and book a table at the a la carte restaurants on the resort. They have a great variety of grilled dishes, Italian and Japanese food and more. The drinks come in very small glasses so prepare to visit the bar a lot, which is not necessarily a bad thing😊 The pools are big but the water is extremely cold. That also goes for the private pool at the villa. The Beach is great but the waves are quite big so please don’t go swimming id the flag is red. They are building a hotel next door which is very noisy. 10 hours a day of trucks going in reverse. But all in all a nice vacation and if you don’t have too high expectations you will be pleasently surprised.
